Established in 1898, the company was founded to address the need for long ladders to assist with rescues from buildings. The first Hook and Ladder truck was a horse-drawn wagon equipped with wooden ladders, leather water buckets, and hooks. Today, Alert #2 is an integral part of the Honesdale Fire Department, providing essential fire protection services to the community.
