Big Sur Land Trust

Big Sur Land Trust (BSLT) is a non-profit organization founded in 1978 with a mission to inspire love of land and conservation of treasured landscapes. Over the years, BSLT has conserved over 40,000 acres and increased access to public parklands, bringing people together to conserve, restore, and care for the region's natural beauty. The organization envisions a future where natural resources, working landscapes, human communities, and the unique character of place are conserved and cared for through collaborative partnerships and mutual support. BSLT has successfully conserved over 30,000 acres of shoreline, wildlife habitat, streams, forests, grasslands, rangelands, and riparian corridors in Monterey County, working with private and public partners. The organization's efforts are supported by generous members and donors who ensure that thousands of acres of trails, beaches, woodlands, pastures, and forests are protected for future generations to enjoy. Under current leadership, BSLT has expanded its scope and impact by introducing innovative approaches to conservation work and developing a wide network of community partners. The organization is committed to pursuing resource conservation that supports the well-being of land and people and sustains the region's unique quality of life.
