The Butte Symphony Orchestra, founded by Charles Kestle Sr., Harold Godtland, and Albert Kreitinger, started as a small nine-member group rehearsing in a living room. Over the years, the orchestra has grown to over 60 members and is now part of the Butte Symphony Association, which includes a 45-member chorale and a volunteer group called the guild. The orchestra performs five concerts per year and is dedicated to promoting symphonic music through education and public outreach in southwest Montana. Their vision is to be the premier orchestra and chorale in the region.
