The Columbia Center for Intersectionality and Social Policy Studies is the first of its kind, aiming to bring together scholars and practitioners from various fields to explore the relationship of intersectionality to their work and promote collaboration across social movements. The Center hosts research networks in five topical areas and is developing a "Methods Core" to facilitate networking and dialogue between scholars. Interested academics or policy advocates can apply to be visiting fellows, and Columbia University students can apply for research assistant positions. The director of the center is Professor Kimberlé Williams Crenshaw, and it was established in 2011 to serve as a global focal point for the development and application of intersectionality in law, human rights, and social justice advocacy.
