Community Work Services (CWS) specializes in staffing for the hospitality, food service, and service industries, offering comprehensive job training programs and career counseling for graduates. As part of its training model, CWS operates businesses in packaging and assembly, property maintenance, and catering, generating 40% of its annual revenues and providing on-the-job training opportunities for program participants. CWS serves individuals struggling with barriers such as disabilities, homelessness, long-term unemployment, legal obstacles, and single parenthood. Founded in 1877 as the Cooperative Society of Visitors Among the Poor of Boston, CWS aims to address the roots of poverty through employment, education, and housing improvements.
