Dolores H. Pretorius, MD

Dr. Dolores H. Pretorius, MD, is a board-certified radiologist specializing in fetal and ultrasound imaging. As the director of fetal imaging at UC San Diego Health's Maternal-Fetal Care and Genetics, she conducts ultrasound scans on expectant mothers to identify potential issues with fetal development or pregnancy. With over 30 years of experience in obstetrical ultrasound research, Dr. Pretorius has contributed to the development of three-dimensional ultrasound imaging and co-authored a widely used textbook on the subject. She is also involved in research on clinical applications for 3D ultrasound in obstetrics. Dr. Pretorius is widely published and serves on editorial boards and as a peer reviewer for medical journals. Additionally, she is a professor in the Department of Radiology at UC San Diego School of Medicine, where she instructs medical students, residents, and fellows. She completed her fellowship in body imaging at the University of Colorado School of Medicine and her residency in radiology at UC San Diego School of Medicine. Dr. Pretorius earned her medical degree from Baylor College of Medicine in Houston and is a fellow of several medical organizations.
