The Englishtown Fire Department was established in response to a disastrous fire that swept through the Main Street of the Borough of Englishtown. Originally known as The Applegate Engine and Hose Company, the department was officially designated as the Englishtown Fire Department in February 1914. Over the years, the department has grown to consist of 40 volunteer members, 10 junior explorers, and has expanded its firefighting capabilities with eight well-equipped fire vehicles. The department has a rich history of responding to numerous fires in the Borough and surrounding areas, and has also provided mutual aid assistance to neighboring fire departments. The members of the department are dedicated to their duty, often facing personal sacrifices and dangers to serve the community. As the department surpasses its 100 year anniversary, it continues to uphold its traditions of dedication, service, and civic pride.
