Heinz Endowments

The Heinz Endowments, based in Pittsburgh, is dedicated to using the region as a testing ground for solutions to national challenges. While the majority of their giving is focused in southwestern Pennsylvania, they also work statewide and nationally to fulfill their mission of helping the region thrive economically, ecologically, educationally, and culturally. The endowments support various fields, including arts and culture, children, youth, and families, community and economic development, education, and the environment. They are independent, private foundations made up of the Howard Heinz Endowment and the Vira I. Heinz Endowment, and are not affiliated with the H.J. Heinz Company or its philanthropic arm. The endowments contribute more than $50 million annually to grantees, many of which are based in southwestern Pennsylvania, and have supported organizations such as the Carnegie Institute and the Flight 93 memorial.
