Henry Whitfield State Museum

The Henry Whitfield State Museum, also known as the Whitfield House, is Connecticut's oldest house, built in 1639. The museum features three floors of 17th-19th century furnishings and artifacts, as well as an introductory exhibit detailing the house's history from Guilford’s settlement period through the house’s restoration in the 1930s. Visitors can enjoy self-guided tours, educational game sheets for children, and hands-on activities in the Education Building. The Visitor Center offers admission tickets, a gift shop, changing exhibits, and a research library. The museum hosts special events throughout the year and welcomes schools, camps, scouts, senior centers, and community groups for tailored programs. The Whitfield House and Visitor Center are open for visitors, with safety measures in place, and free outdoor activities are available.
