JHess Studios

JHess Studios provides students of all levels and professions with a deep understanding of classical form, design, practice, and discipline in a friendly and instructive environment. The studio focuses on the importance of drawing from life as a means to skill in painting or sculpture, offering classes in both disciplines on an ongoing basis. With a commitment to providing the highest level of instruction in classical methods, JHess Studios offers a curriculum designed to bridge the gap between full-time academy programs and weekly workshops. The studio, located in the SOMA district of San Francisco, offers 2,200 sqft of open studio space with ample natural light and is easily accessible by major freeways and public transportation. Classes are held in the evenings and on weekends to accommodate those with work and family commitments, and students are welcome to take one or multiple classes in each session or on an ongoing basis. Additionally, the studio offers week-long workshops in January and the summer, as well as the opportunity for students to design a course of study tailored to their individual needs and schedule.
