The Minnesota Sinfonia is a professional chamber orchestra that was founded in 1989 with the mission of providing free admission concerts and outreach programs to underserved and low-income communities in Minnesota. The orchestra's professional freelance musicians have graduate degrees from major universities and conservatories, and many have prestigious private teaching studios and experience performing with major orchestras. The Sinfonia is the only professional orchestra in the state to offer all concerts free of admission charges and to welcome children to every performance. Their "Music in the Schools" program serves students attending inner-city schools and is provided free of charge. The orchestra's repertoire includes classical masterworks, pop favorites, children's music, and new works created by Minnesota composers.
