Monroe County Legislature Majority Office

The Monroe County Legislature Majority Office was established in 1967 following a Supreme Court decision on the "one man-one vote" principle. The 29-member Legislature replaced the 43-member Board of Supervisors and is responsible for developing laws and policies affecting over 710,000 residents. Each legislator represents approximately 25,000 people and brings unique perspectives and expertise from their professions and geographic areas. The Republican Majority Caucus is composed of 19 legislators, each offering diverse perspectives and experiences. Public forums are held at the start of each meeting to allow citizens to express their opinions on important issues. Citizens can sign up to speak by calling 585 753-1950.
