Performing Arts Workshop

Founded in 1965, Performing Arts Workshop is a nonprofit organization dedicated to providing equitable access to music, dance, theater, spoken word, and music education for young people. With a focus on marginalized youth, the Workshop partners with Bay Area public schools, preschools, community centers, transitional housing facilities, and juvenile halls, reaching over 4,000 young people annually. The Workshop's teaching artists work with each site individually to tailor the arts learning experience to the specific population, based on a teaching method developed by Workshop Founder Gloria Unti. The organization remains committed to the belief that all young people, regardless of social status, identity, or ability, are equally entitled to benefit from the creative process.
