Rita's Italian Ice & Frozen Custard was born in the hot summer of 1984 when former Philadelphia firefighter Bob Tumolo and his mother Elizabeth started selling their own Italian Ice recipe from a small porch window in Bensalem, PA. While they didn't invent Italian Ice, they certainly made it cool by combining it with happiness. Today, Rita's is a popular counter-serve chain known for its Italian ices, frozen custards, and a variety of other cold treats.
