Sarah Thornton of Lintu Art is an oil painter with a background in biology and a passion for color theory. Her inspiration comes from her college studies of vertebrate biology, volunteer work, and her pack of three dogs at home. She draws inspiration from marquetry, using pieces of veneer to form patterns, designs, or pictures, and her style is characterized by an explosion of oil paint color on canvas. Sarah's technique involves sketching a realistic portrait on the canvas and then destroying that realism using swaths of color. She is influenced by artists such as Franz Marc, Chuck Close, and Minnesota artist Megan Bell. Sarah's studio in the Northrup King Building is a great place to bring your dog for a sketch session and photo shoot to prepare for the painting process. She also offers the option of gathering photos for remote commissions. Connect with Sarah on her website www.LintuArt.com or via email at sarah.lintu@gmail.com for completed paintings or commissions.
