Business Description

The Save Abandoned Babies Foundation is a nonprofit volunteer group dedicated to preventing the illegal abandonment of newborns in Illinois. They promote awareness of the Baby Safe Haven law, which allows a parent to safely hand over an unharmed baby, 30 days old or younger, to staff at any Illinois hospital, staffed fire or police station, without fear of prosecution or having to answer any questions. Their mission is to create awareness of the law and prevent illegal abandonments and deaths of newborn babies. Their grassroots efforts led to the passing of the Illinois Abandoned Newborn Infant Protection Act, and they continue to provide confidential information and help to those in crisis.
