Founded in 2012 by 3 UCSD PhD students, ThoughtSTEM has rapidly expanded from a small tutoring business to a county-wide service, offering computer science and programming education for kids starting at age 6. With a focus on fun, engaging, and impactful curriculum, ThoughtSTEM provides certified teachers, mentorship from local college students, and a low instructor-to-student ratio. They also offer coding summer camps, programming workshops, and after-school programming teams at local San Diego schools. In addition, ThoughtSTEM has recently launched a nonprofit called MetaCoders, encompassing all of their computer science programs, and now primarily develops educational software.
