Titan Insurance Co, based in Troy, Mich., began writing private passenger automobile insurance policies in the 1990s and has since become one of the largest specialty auto carriers in Michigan with over $265 million in net premiums. The agency offers solutions to protect individuals from financial hardship caused by accidental losses and operates full-service branches throughout the United States. In August 2003, Nationwide Mutual Insurance Company, one of the largest insurance and financial services companies in the world, purchased Titan Insurance. Nationwide Mutual Insurance is based in Columbus, Ohio, and has more than $148 billion in statutory assets, with core businesses including domestic property and casualty insurance, life insurance and retirement savings, asset management, and strategic investments.
