Walter H. Kaye, MD

Dr. Walter H. Kaye, MD, is a board-certified psychiatrist specializing in treating anorexia nervosa and other eating disorders. As director of the eating disorders program at UC San Diego Health, he and his team provide an intensive and innovative approach that addresses medical, psychological, and psycho-educational health, as well as family counseling. Dr. Kaye is also a professor in the Department of Psychiatry, where he instructs medical students and residents, and is an internationally recognized leader in the field of eating disorders research. He has authored and co-authored over 300 articles and publications and has received a National Institute of Mental Health senior scientist award. Prior to joining UC San Diego Health, Dr. Kaye was on faculty at the University of Pittsburgh School of Medicine. He completed a residency in psychiatry at the Stewart and Lynda Resnick Neuropsychiatric Hospital at UCLA and a residency in neurology at LAC+USC Medical Center, and earned his medical degree from The Ohio State University College of Medicine.
