Women in Thoracic Surgery (WTS)

Women in Thoracic Surgery (WTS) aims to enhance the quality of medical care for patients, develop women thoracic surgeons through mentoring, educate patients about heart and lung disease, and provide educational opportunities for women thoracic surgeons. The organization was formed in 1986 and has steadily grown in membership and outreach efforts, including the publication of newsletters and the establishment of a symposium to celebrate the achievements of women in the field. In 2007, WTS began operating under the management services provided by STS and established its headquarters in Chicago.
